Here are some drumless loops in various styles, feels and tempos. Each runs about 10-12 minutes and have two versions: one with click, one without.
I try to make each one focus on one or a few different aspects of drumming, be it a style of groove, musical situation or time signature.
They are free for download. However, if you feel generous, a donation would be appreciated. Thanks.
I had Jeff Porcaro and Ash Soan in mind when I put this loop together. Check out Jeff on "I Keep Forgetting" (Michael McDonald) and "Georgy Porgy" (Toto) and you'll see what I mean.
This is a really open, spacey loop that you can experiment with different feels, sounds and whatever else your brain can conjure.
I think maybe some early 2000s Ben Folds influenced this.
No click on this one. The loop itself is pretty rhythmic and should be easy to follow. This is one that can be approached as either 4 bars of 7/8 or 2 bars of 7/4.
A personal favorite of mine.
I like to think of this funky track as the theme of a 70s TV cop show. It is two sections: the verse which is 64 bars and the drum solo section which is 16 bars with horn hits every two bars.
A tough tempo - 94 BPM. This tune can be many styles: funk, rock, New Orleans Second Line with backbeat options all over the place. And the B section is good practice at opening up your sound while maintaining the tempo and not slowing down.
Uncomfortable 92 BPM - Funky Superstition-esque groove. A-B-A-B-C Form
